  • Sunil Soni –Director General of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS)
  • Sujata Singh – Foreign Secretary of India (succeeded by Ranjan Mathai)
  • Adli Mansour – Interim president of Egypt (Will hold this post till next elections take place,succeeded Mohamed Morsi who was removed after military coup)
  • R. Chandrasekhar – Appointed as president of NASSCOM (has also served as secretary of Department of Telecommunications)
  • Mohamed ElBaradei – Sworn as Prime Minister of Egypt
  • Najeeb Jung – 20th Lt Governor of Delhi (previously working as Vice Chancellor of Jamia Milia Islamia University)
  • Shriniwas Dadasaheb Patil – Appointed as Governor of Sikkim
  • KK Paul – Appointed as Governor of Meghalaya(was former Delhi Police Chief)
  • Lt Gen (Retd) AK Singh – Appointed as Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands
  • Justice Palanisamy Sathasivam – Selected as Chief Justice Of India(succeeded Justice Altamas Kabir)
  • Bhim Sain Bassi – Appointed as New Police Commissioner of Delhi Police.  
  • Abdul Rahim Rather – Appointed as Chairman of GST Panel (also served as Finance Minister of J&K)
  • Arvind Sharma – re-elected as the President of Advertising Agencies Association of India (also serves as The Chairman and CEO of Leo Burnett, India)
  • Nisha Desai Biswal – Indian-American woman was nominated for the Post of Assistant Secretary of State of USA

Deaths of the month:

  • Douglas Engelbart –  Known as father of the computer mouse who died on 3 July 2013
  • Mahasundari Devi – Was famous for Madhubani paintings , passed away in Ranti
  • Arun Nehru – Former Minister for Internal Security and cousin of Rajiv Gandhi, who died in Gurgaon
  • Jagdish Raj – Indian actor, who was awarded by Guinness World Record for being the most type-cast actor, died on 28th July,2013
  • Dr. H.A.B. Parpia – Passed away on 9th July,2013, worked as director of the Central Food Technological Research Institute(CFTRI)
  • Pran – The legendary actor of Indian Cinema passed away (was awarded by Dada Saheb Phalke Award and Padma Bhushan)
  • Vaali – Veteran Tamil Film lyricist who died at Chennai
  • Manjula Vijayakumar – Died at Chennai , who was famous as south Indian actor
  • SN Hanumantha Rao – Former Test Umpire, who died on 29th July,2013



Awards of the month:

  • Vandana Gandhi – First ever Indian woman to receive Dubai Government’s coveted Emirates Woman Award for business excellence in June 2013
  • Vidya Balan – Awarded as best actress award at 14th IIFA(International Indian Film Academy) for year 2013 held at Macau.
  • Zubin Mehta – Awarded as Tagor award-2013
  • Jhumpa Lahiri – Indian American author whose novel “The Lowland” longlisted for the Man Booker Prize 2013
  • Amjad Ali Khan – chosen for the 21st Rajiv Gandhi National Sadhbhavna Award

  • World Book Capital City – Incheon – UNESCO announced   South Korean city- Incheon  as the World Book Capital for the year 2015
  • Prince George Alexander Louise – Baby boy of The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton and Prince William. Kate Middleton who gave birth to a baby boy on 22 July 2013 at the London hospital
  •  Paradip Port – India Port awarded as excellent performance in the year 2012-13.
