In a move to boost tourism activities at the world’s highest civilian airport China has opened world’s highest civilian airport in Garzi, a Tibetan region of Sichuan province.

China has started flight operation at Daocheng Yading Airport which is situated at an elevation of 4,411 meters (14,472 feet) above sea level.

Daocheng Yading Airport replaces the previous champion, Bangda Airport in the Tibet Autonomous Region, which sits at 4,334 meters (14,219 feet).
The airport is situated at Garzi, which is also known for many anti-Chinese rule self-immolations.
According to foreign policy experts, this flight operation at this point has some another motive. Some experts seem this to tighten political control over the country’s restive west.
