Amit kumar won silver at World Wrestling Championship

Amit-Kumar-won-silver-at-World-Wrestling-ChampionshipAsian Champion Amit Kumar settled for silver in 55kg free style category in 2013 Senior World Wrestling Championship being held at Budapest, Hungary on 16th September.

 

India’s last medal, in men’s section in wrestling, came in 2010 when Sushilbhad grabbed the gold.

 

After London Olympics silver medallist Sushil Kumar failed to take the mat due to fitness issues, Amit brought cheers to the Indian camp when he got the better off Sezar Akgul of Turkey in the semifinals of the marquee event.

  •  Amit Kumar represented India at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
  • He is the youngest wrestler in the Indian delegation. He is also the youngest wrestler ever to represent India at the Olympics.
  • Amit Kumar also won a gold medal in the Asian Championships in April 2013.
